Hi, I'm Lesly
Owner and CEO of Birkland Boutique!
This boutique started in the corner of our master bedroom in our 1000 sq. ft. apartment. I needed something to focus on as we rebuilt our life from the ground up.
We had just sold our dearly loved home, the one we built,
designed, poured our blood, sweat, and tears into. It was our dream come
true home. But as life would have it, we had to sell to cover a mound
of debt and mistakes. Although thankful for the ability to use it in such a
way, it didn’t stop the sting of disappointment.
We ended up back in an apartment. I say back because that is where
my husband and I started out some 15 years ago when we first married. This time
however, we had two kids in tow and a cat. My strength, stress and ability to
hold my world together was tested daily.
I held on to anger and resentment and wondered what the heck
happened to our lives. Our dreams. How did it all fall apart? Have you ever
felt that way?
Little did I know, through the struggle, God was rebuilding our
lives, this time stronger, sweeter, and better in so many ways.
It was a painfully slow process.
Building a business isn't easy. Rebuilding a life isn't
easy either. We were doing both! But as we did, God brought purpose and passion
back into our lives. Something we were sorely missing.
I remember the day we moved out of that small apartment. I remember
looking around our new home on 5 acers and seeing mountains in every direction.
I prayed for those mountains. I prayed that no matter where we lived I'd be
able to see the mountain scape so I'd always be reminded of His power, hope and
love that brought us through the most challenging season of our lives.
That's why my logo has mountains and my signature necklace is:
How I got into metal stamping
In our small appartment I had a shelf full of hand crochet beanies I had made.
I remember looking at those beanies one day wondering if I could sell them. Wondering if I should.
Curiosity got the best of me and I listed them on Etsy. After looking around on Etsy I saw that a million other shops sold similar items. I had to make mine stand out.
So I started metal stamping tags to sew onto the beanies. They were customizable back then, and that seemed to work.
All the sudden I had orders coming out my ears!
Alas winter was over and I needed to switch gears. So I started metal stamping jewelry.
That began to grow so I started ordering shirts that later I began printing myself.
And now this is where I am today. Still learning, still growing, still praying that one day we are able to finally purchase that house of our own. But I look up at those mountains surrounding me and I remember that all things are possible. And it reminds me to keep trying, keep learning and leave the rest up to God.
The message I want to share is this: You might not be where you want to be, but God isn’t finished with you yet! Watch for those mountains in your life, hold on to hope, and keep going!
Jesus replied, “Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as amustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.” Matthew 17:20-21
