Share Your Story: You Never Know What God Will Do With It
Share
Have you shared your story with someone lately?
I had a sweet reminder today of just how powerful our stories can be.
A young woman and her future fiancé came into the boutique. They were quiet, respectful, incredibly sweet, and so young. They had driven from Spokane because they were looking for some faith-based apparel, and I could just see their faces light up when they walked through the door.
It was obvious that their faith was important to them. They weren't just picking out clothes. They were choosing things that would help them wear their faith out into the world and make Jesus a part of their everyday lives.
While she was here, she also stamped a ring at our jewelry stamping table. She really wanted a mountain on it.
She told me about how mountains can remind us of faith—the kind of faith that can move mountains. And as she was talking, I felt that little nudge from God:
Tell her about your story.
So I did.
Remembering God's Faithfulness
I told her about a season when my husband and I were living in an apartment that was a really dark and difficult place for us. I remember praying that wherever God moved us next, there would be mountains.
I wanted to be able to look up and be reminded of God's faithfulness.
His strength.
His ability to do what I couldn't.
His ability to do the impossible.
And wouldn't you know it?
Not long after that, God opened the door for us to leave that apartment. And when we looked out from where we moved, there were mountains in every direction.
God had been faithful.
He gave me the mountains I had prayed for.
Her face just lit up when I told her.
She thanked me for sharing it, and I could tell that the story meant something to her.
And honestly, that was the best part of my day.
You Never Know What God Will Do With Your Story
Because I have no idea what God will do with that little story.
Maybe she'll look at that mountain on her ring years from now and remember that God can move mountains.
Maybe she'll be facing something impossible someday and remember that He has been faithful before.
Maybe she'll tell someone else.
And maybe, just maybe, that little story will keep traveling farther than I could ever imagine.
That's the beautiful thing about sharing what God has done in our lives.
We don't have to know what He's going to do with the story. We just have to be faithful enough to share it.
Sometimes we don't think our stories are worth sharing.
Maybe the prayer God answered seemed small.
Maybe the door He opened didn't seem significant at the time.
Maybe it's simply a little moment between you and God that you almost forgot about.
But what if someone else needs to hear it?
What if your story is the encouragement someone needs to keep going?
What if the thing God did for you becomes a reminder of His faithfulness to someone else?
Share Your Story
I believe we are meant to share these beautiful reminders with one another—to encourage each other, strengthen each other's faith, and remind each other that God is still working.
So here's my reminder for you today:
Share your story.
Tell someone about the prayer God answered.
Tell them about the door He opened.
Tell them about the mountain He moved.
Tell them about the thing you thought was impossible, but God made a way.
You never know who might need to hear it.
You may share something that seems small to you, and God may use it in a way you'll never get to see.
God is faithful.
God is strong.
And a God who can take even the smallest story and use it in powerful ways.
