Looking Past What We See

Looking Past What We See

I read a devotional this morning that really stirred something in me. It was about looking past someone’s appearance to judge accurately. You know that old saying, “don’t judge a book by its cover” — that was the heart of it.

Honestly, my heart has felt a little heavy lately, and this message didn’t hit the calm or assurance I was hoping for… until God flipped it on its head.

I felt Him whisper, “What if you looked at your situations the same way?”

So often, I judge my future based on what I see — or don’t see — right now. I assume I know how things will turn out because of what’s in front of me. But that’s just as inaccurate as judging a person by their appearance.

As I leaned in, I could see God was working — preparing, teaching, healing — even when I couldn’t see the full picture. The verse, “Your ways are higher than my ways” (Isaiah 55:9), came to mind, reminding me that His perspective is always greater than mine.

The truth is, I have no idea what’s ahead for us… but God is calling me into deep, daily prayer over it all.

Can I trust Him with it?
Can you?

Yes, friends — we can. Let’s look past our daily struggles, worries, and fears, and focus on a God who is always at work. He loves us dearly and sees every detail we cannot.

This week, let’s step into prayer together. Whatever you’re carrying, whatever you’re waiting on — offer it up to a powerful, can-do God.
