God Is the Ultimate Planner: Trusting God When Life Doesn't Make Sense

I was reading about the book of Esther the other morning in my bible study, and something really stood out to me.

God is the ultimate planner.

As you read through Esther, there are so many moments that seem like separate, unrelated events.

Vashti is removed as queen.
Esther becomes queen.
Mordecai discovers a plot against the king.
The king happens to have a sleepless night.
He asks for records discovers that Mordecai had never been honored for saving his life.

And then suddenly, all of those little pieces begin to connect.

We Only See the Pieces

What looked like random events were actually pieces of a much bigger plan.

God was positioning people, opening doors, establishing trust, and moving circumstances into place long before anyone could see what He was doing.

And isn't life often like that?

We live our stories one day at a time. We see this decision, this disappointment, this opportunity, this closed door, this unexpected turn.

And sometimes we wonder, What are You doing, God? How does any of this fit together?

But the book of Esther reminds me that God is beautifully orchestrating a story and one day, I will be able to step back and see how to pieces fit together.

I will see what God was doing with the things I didn't understand. The things that hurt. I'll see how He was preparing something through circumstances that didn't make any sense.

And that gives me courage to trust Him.

Because my plans fall apart. Try as I might to plan out every detail, I fail.

But Gods plans never fail.

And that's why I need to stop holding my own plans so tightly.

The things I want so badly.
The things I think need to happen.
The doors I want God to open.

I can lay them at His feet and trust that He is truly working all things together for good (Romans 8:28).

Not saying that is an easy thing to do. Surrender is a daily struggle. 

But God has given each of us a purpose. By believing He has placed us in specific positions and equipped us for the things He has called us to do. We can step forward in faith with the knowledge that God really does 'got this.'

God is working.
God is positioning.
God is preparing.
And one day, one day, the whole story will make sense.

Until then, I want to keep listening, keep obeying, and keep trusting the One who's plans are well established and thought through.
